Saral Money Tracker (“the app”) is an income and expense tracker for Android, published by Saral Techies (Hasanpur, Amroha, Uttar Pradesh 244241, India), “we” or “us”. This policy explains what data the app handles and where it goes.
In short: everything you enter stays on your phone. The app doesn’t collect, upload, sell or share any data, and it doesn’t have permission to use the internet.
Data we collect
None. The app has no user accounts, no advertising, no analytics and no crash-reporting tools. It doesn’t request Android’s internet permission, so it can’t send any data to Saral Techies or to anyone else. We have no server that receives data from the app. It doesn’t read your SMS, bank or UPI apps, contacts or location, and it doesn’t connect to bank accounts.
Data stored on your phone
| Data | Why | Where it stays |
|---|---|---|
| What you enter: amounts, dates, notes, categories and their budgets, accounts and their opening balances, and repeating entries | To show your income, expenses, balances, budgets and charts, and to add repeating entries on their dates | In the app’s private database on your phone. |
| Settings (currency, month and week start, theme, app lock, hide in recent apps, reminder time), and when the app last asked for a rating or offered an update | To remember your preferences, and not to ask too often | In the app’s private storage on your phone. |
Import and export
When you import an Excel file or export your data (Excel or CSV), the app reads or writes only the file you pick in Android’s file picker, so it needs no storage permission. Exported files are saved where you choose. Keep them safe: they contain your financial records, and anyone with the file can read it.
Permissions
| Permission | Why it is needed |
|---|---|
| Notifications | The optional daily reminder to add the day’s entries. It’s asked for only when you turn the reminder on, and the reminder comes only on days you haven’t added anything. |
| Run at startup | To set the daily reminder again after the phone restarts or its time changes. |
| Biometrics | The optional app lock, using your phone’s own fingerprint, face or screen lock. Android checks these: the app never sees or stores your fingerprint, face, PIN or password. |
The app doesn’t request internet access, storage, SMS, call log, contacts, location, camera or microphone permissions.
Android backup
Android’s own backup is allowed for the app, so if backup is turned on in your phone’s settings, Android may copy the app’s data (your entries, accounts, budgets and settings) to your Google account with your other app data, under Google’s terms, and put it back when you set up a new phone. The app itself doesn’t upload anything, and Saral Techies can’t see these backups. You can turn backup off in your phone’s settings.
Google Play updates and ratings
The app uses Google Play’s in-app update and in-app review features. These work through the Google Play Store app on your phone, not through Saral Money Tracker, which has no internet access: the Play Store checks whether a new version is available and, now and then, may ask you to rate the app. Google handles this under its own privacy policy, and we only see the ratings and reviews you choose to post on Google Play. The Rate, Share, More apps, Source code and Privacy policy items in the app open Google Play, Android’s share sheet or your browser.
Sharing and selling
We don’t sell, rent or share any data, because we don’t collect any.
Children
The app is a personal finance tool for adults and is not directed at children under 13. It doesn’t knowingly collect information from anyone.
Security and source code
Your data stays in the app’s private storage, protected by Android’s app sandbox. You can add an app lock, and “Hide in recent apps” hides the app’s screen in the recent apps view and blocks screenshots. The app is open source under the GPL-3.0 licence, so anyone can check what it does: github.com/saraltechies/saralmoneytracker.
Not financial advice
The app records and adds up the numbers you enter. It doesn’t give financial, investment or tax advice, and it doesn’t move money, pay bills or offer loans.
Deleting your data
Settings → Delete all data removes your entries, accounts, categories, budgets and repeating entries and starts again with the default accounts and categories. Uninstalling the app deletes everything it stored on your phone, including settings. Files you exported stay where you saved them, and app backups stored in your Google account can be managed in your phone’s backup settings or Google account.
Changes to this policy
If a future version handles data differently, we will update this page and the date at the top, and the Data safety section on Google Play, before that version is released.
