Features

What Saral Money Tracker does

Add an entry in seconds

An on-screen keypad that adds up sums (250+120+45 is saved as ₹415), one-tap categories, Today and Yesterday shortcuts, and your last used account picked for you. Expense, income or transfer.

Day, week, month or year

Switch between day, week, month, year or any date range. Months can follow your salary cycle, for example 25th to 24th, and weeks can start on Monday, Sunday or Saturday.

Budgets per category

A monthly limit for each category, warnings at 80% and when you go over, and a safe amount you can still spend each day for the rest of the month.

Charts and insights

A donut chart by category, a daily or monthly trend chart, your average per day, a comparison with the previous period and your savings rate. Tap a category to see its entries.

Accounts and credit cards

Cash, bank, credit card and UPI wallet accounts with live balances and net worth. Paying a card bill or withdrawing cash is a transfer, so it’s never counted as spending twice.

Repeating entries

Add salary, rent, EMIs, SIPs and subscriptions once and they’re recorded on their dates by themselves: daily, weekly, monthly or yearly.

Excel import and export

Import an .xlsx tracker, a table with Date and Amount columns or a bank statement with Debit and Credit columns. Export everything to Excel, which is also a full backup, or to CSV.

App lock and reminder

Lock the app with your fingerprint, face or phone PIN, and hide its screen in recent apps. An optional evening reminder comes only on days you haven’t added anything.

Private and open source

No ads, no analytics, no account and no internet permission. The full code is on GitHub under GPL-3.0, so anyone can check what the app does.

Private by design

The app has no internet permission, so it can’t send your amounts, notes or accounts anywhere. Everything is stored on your phone, and you can lock the app with your fingerprint, face or PIN. There are no ads, no account and no analytics, and the code is public so you can check.

FAQ

Questions about Saral Money Tracker

Yes. It’s free, with no ads, no in-app purchases and no paid version.

No. It’s a tracker you fill in yourself. It doesn’t read SMS, bank apps or UPI apps and doesn’t connect to bank accounts. Repeating entries like salary, rent and EMIs are added on their dates by themselves once you set them up.

In the app’s private storage on your phone. The app has no internet permission, so it can’t send your data to us or anyone else. If Android backup is turned on for your phone, Android may include the app’s data in your own Google backup, like other apps’ data. You can also export to Excel at any time for a copy you keep yourself.

Yes, .xlsx files from Excel, Google Sheets or LibreOffice: monthly “Money Out / Money In” sheets, any table with Date and Amount columns, and bank statements with Debit and Credit columns. The app shows what it found before adding anything, and importing the same file twice is safe. Old .xls files and CSV import aren’t supported; CSV is for export.

Your card purchases are already counted as spending when you make them. Paying the bill only moves money from your bank account to the card, so counting it again would double your spending for the month. Cash withdrawals and moving money to savings work the same way.

No. It records and adds up the numbers you enter. It doesn’t give financial, investment or tax advice, and it doesn’t move money, pay bills or offer loans.
